WOW!!! I love all the characters in this play. This writer has an excellent vision. When Keyonna starts to harden, it is heartbreaking. While we need to take care of reality, we also need dreams and hope. When one feels small or is trying to sacrifice themselves for their family, the rug can get pulled out. It is so hard not to fall, hard. And people do. But we can also Love and Forgive. This is REAL but told through a lens of so much love and theatricality. An excellent, moving play. And Natalie Portman is in it!

I first heard about this play when I saw it was named as one of the 2018 Sundance Institute Theatre Lab Fellows. I was so glad to see that it was uploaded on NPX because this is a brilliant play that will rip your heart out at several points but its not a total downer. This is definitely not your typical African American family living in poverty play. It's a play about dreams and what happens when we give them up for others or just give up on them. The characters are amazing and the dialogue is so honest.
