It's been one year since the citizens of Clairence vacated their small town. One year since a rogue government test made the environment unlivable. One year since the Harts made the decision to stay.

Their small home includes Jack Hart, his son Noah, his wife Jules, their family friend Marianne, and her nephew Beckett.

Then: a knock at the door. Lillian and Jordan arrive from the CDC and CPS, respectively, and a routine visit begins to unearth disturbing questions. What is Julies doing in her room all the time, and how come no one sees her? What provokes Marianne's violent outbursts? And who has been hacking away at the family photo albums?
