Amanda and Edward are two successful divorced theater people in this one-act comedy who can’t seem to find their next project. Edward, who is a playwright, is in a “fallow period”, while Amanda doesn’t want to commit to anything for fear of failing. This leads to excessive bickering between them while they try to find a solution.

"A play about theater people being presented to theater people always seems to be a good combination. I think any production company would be happy to have this play as their choice for the Festival and I would be very happy to see it performed on stage. "

"I respect and love Noel Coward as well as any patron of the theatre, and this homage to him does not disappoint. It is a frivolous confection with purely affected characters and sharp, witty, sometimes dueling dialogue. It would be so much fun to stage."
(Both quotes from 2024 Pittsburgh New Works Theater Festival)

Greg Hatfield has written a delicious homage to Noel Coward. Amanda and Edward (nee Elyot) are conflicted ex-spouses searching for a way forward. Amanda, an actress, and Edward, a playwright playout their jealousies and ambitions, while slow to realize they're still in love.

As someone who is frequently inspired by the positivity in my relationship, I couldn't help but feel for Amanda and Edwards as their ability to create seems to elude them. As the story continues, the two of them draw more people into their complicated life and as I read I found myself leaning forward with curiosity to know how the story would unwind itself. Without giving too much away, Greg expertly unwinds the story with wonderfully witty dialogue exchanged between wonderfully created characters. Its a story creatives will relate to and brilliantly put together.
