FULL LENGTH: Set at four locations at a carnival. When our story begins, the Turbinado triplets are already orphans. Zeppelin accident, you know. And now the clownish Chorus spins the sad tales of Amalia-Tamalia, Jayce-Marie, and Nic Turbinado, triplets separated to lead lives so different, it’s like they come from different eras.

A chance meeting at the carnival their parents used to work at starts a tradition of reuniting once a year - which is shattered when the differences between the siblings become too great to handle.

And for many years, the siblings live their own lives. Nic, whose impoverished life is like a roller coaster, grabs his boyfriend and hits the road - which hits back. Amalia, the invisible one, leaves her middle class upbringing to embrace a life of con-artistry, falling in unrequited love with a woman who wants to make history as a bank robber. Meanwhile, non-binary Jayce-Marie lives in the massive family estate that feels like the worst parts of a funhouse, eventually becoming the caretaker for the elderly family matriarch.

This is a story of love, pain, adventure, identity, class, aging, and family. It's truly bonkers. It was built to be a promenade play, so you have the option of splitting the audience up for Act II to experience the triplets' lives in different orders. Created using an innovative devising process with middle schoolers, it's theatrical and fun.

A great story is a great story. And ones like Dolcevita transcend time, place, and other restraints to show us humanity in its various forms. In this play, Oglesby builds a fascinating and rich world. It is rare to see a play that could easily see successful production at the youth, high school, college, community, or professional level - but this makes perfect sense anywhere. On top of that, it is written with the option to be produced as a promenade theatre piece but could be produced practically anywhere.

A truly unique piece, in need of more productions.
