    King’s Abbot’s local doctor. He is also the protagonist of this story, taking us through the action of the murder case as Hercule Poirot’s assistant.

    A retired Belgian detective who has taken up residence at The Larches, a home in King’s Abbot. When he learns of Roger Ackroyd’s murder, he is more than happy to take on the case.

    A very wealthy industrialist who is murdered in his study shortly after receiving a letter about his late fiancée’s blackmailer.
