Garret is a failed academic working as a delivery driver for the world's biggest tech company. Starlee is a *future billionaire* looking to break into the industry on the road to ultra-wealth. How much power have we ceded to not only those with vast amounts of wealth — but those with the skills to acquire it? If you buy neoliberal capitalism's narrative, we're just letting the most competent people take charge. But Vermillion's play lets no one off the hook — often the mechanisms to gain capital are completely against safety, logic, reason, and morality. Find shelter, there's a storm coming.

A fully-thought-provoking, totally on-the-nose satire, Billionaire Mindset succeeds in every possible way. Crackling dialogue, memorable characters that manage to be both individuals and types, and a satisfying and inevitable plot arc make this one satisfying throughout. Well-deserving of its Samuel French nod.

I dream of a world where dramaturgs study this play as a relic of the horrors of late-stage capitalism run amok -- but today is not that day. Instead, this hilarious and savage satire is only a slight exaggeration of the absurd dystopian present. Hilarious, sickening, and with a terrific ticking-clock premise ratcheting up the tension (for those of us raised in tornado country: prepare to shout at the screen/page), Billionaire Mindset is effective as hell in all the right ways.
