I've never been part of a MLM but I honestly can't imagine Carnes' interpretation is too far off, right down to the blood and sacrifices, but hey...we all have to do a little dirty work to feel this good! This is a hilarious and relentless little short that artists (I feel costumers in particular) and audiences alike will have a field day with, and Alison's struggle with staying or leaving is a gem to watch as the others slowly let more and more of their true nature slip.

This play will resonate deeply with anyone who has ever received a Facebook message from some high school acquaintance that starts "Hey Hun, I've got an AMAZING opportunity for you!"
Carnes builds a completely believable world that starts with annoying wine-drinking MLM women and spirals to the inevitable conclusion of ritual sacrifice. It's totally hilarious and brilliant. Read while wearing your favorite pair of leggings. #blessed

This is a hilarious play! Carnes is so intentional and clear in her rhythms, giving actors and audience alike an abundance of clues. Join the Movement sweeps you up in a whirlwind, the same way character Alison is swept up by her peers. A cheeky short play about leggings, this piece lampoons consumerism and is a fine study on the infectiousness of group-think.
