Ten-Minute - (6M/4F) "Diversity Rock" is a charming play that is a testament to our times. It has been said that sometimes we should listen to our youth because of their innocents. This play centers around a group of kids at a neighborhood playground. The playground has various play equipment, and the children enjoy swinging, sliding, and playing together. The main characters, Hadji, Lucy, Schroeder, and Charlie are excitedly engaging in different activities when a new group of kids arrives. These new kids, Dick, Jane, Trixie, Boris, and Esperanza, are first seen as a threat, making the original group nervous, and their initial reaction is hesitance because the new kids don't look like them. Schroeder, a compassionate, open-minded boy, stands up for the new kids. This is the birth of the "Diversity Rock," an attempt for everyone to get to know each other better. The game allows them to learn about each other's cultures, traditions, and backgrounds. As the play unfolds, the kids ask each other questions about their cultures and share their interests and hobbies. It is through playing this game; the children laugh, bond, and grow, leading to a much better understanding of what it means to be different. It sends a strong message about the importance of acceptance and kindness towards those who may appear different from us, promoting unity and friendship in a multicultural setting.
