The Gap

Nicole thinks she was abducted by aliens. Lee thinks Nicole is insane. But Nicole is her sister, so Lee goes on a performance art journey to discover the truth about that strange moment in their life that neither of them can exactly name. A dark comedy about family secrets, performing, and sisterhood that asks what’s ultimately worse: forgetting or remembering?

A beautiful exploration into the driving force of trauma and memories in creating art. The incredibly powerful bond between sisters is so heartfelt and moving. Wonderful work!

I read this a month ago and it is still with me. That is how you know. Emma Goidel, you are my new favorite playwright.

A beautiful play full of vivid imagery and arresting dialogue. Emma explores the nature of sisterhood in such a lovely, heartbreaking way. I was struck by how truly scared I was at times while reading, like I was watching an episode of the Twilight Zone. I was spellbound throughout the entire piece and would love to see it performed.
