What a wonderful play. "Matrescence" captures new motherhood so perfectly, with all its exhaustion, overwhelming love, and terror that you're losing yourself. The characters feel so real and the language is so beautiful. I absolutely loved it from start to finish.

This play makes pregnancy and child-bearing seem like a new topic; a difficult feat. Margot's struggles with her father and her writing are utterly relatable and heartbreaking, which is why her reconciliation with both punches you in the gut with feelings. Excellently written. I was enthralled the whole time.

The beauty of a newborn isn't exactly welcomed smoothly. Family meets politics in a clash that threatens to divide. Can they be healed to see what's important? Well done.
