MAL has just arrived in India to pick up her estranged twin sister FAYE’s ashes. Upon arrival, she is mistaken for her sister by Faye’s fiancé, NIKHIL, who has not yet learned that Faye has died in a bomb blast. As weeks pass, Mal remains closed off, while Nikhil, sick with grief, tries to make a connection with her. On the twins’ birthday, Nikhil appears, attempting to connect with Mal and to extract the full story of the incident that caused the sisters’ seven-year estrangement. While Mal is grieving in India, Faye shows up in Nebraska, alive and searching for Mal. Confronting the implications of her long absence from home, Faye is paralyzed by the responsibilities that Mal has been bearing, especially caring for their mentally absent father. Faye makes a series of rash decisions, including pulling her father out of the mental home. In India, Mal goes into a tailspin when she learns that her father has been removed from the home without her permission. She and Nikhil race back to the States to find him. As the twins confront each other for the first time in years, the affect on their father and their future is uncertain.

A play about both grief in death as well as grief in life, Hannah has populated this surprising play with nuanced characters and an extremely interesting paralleled storyline. Her imagination is endless.
