On an elementary school playground, a boy threatens to tell on a group of girls for swearing – unless one of them kisses him. But just before lips can touch, Kyeoung tackles the boy to the ground. The victory is short-lived. Over the coming years, Kyeoung herself is knocked down again and again. By an alcoholic dad. A group of quick-to-judge friends. And an endlessly invasive parade of men. As we follow Kyeoung from the discoveries of childhood to the realities of adulthood, her stories get stranger, funnier, more harrowing – and more familiar. How do girls grow up? Quickly, painfully, wondrously.

I saw this play during its New York run. It left me shooketh. Such a hard-hitting, powerful, unrelenting, and fearless exploration of growing up as a woman today. HIGHLY recommended!

This is the best play I've ever seen. It speaks to what it means to be a woman so viscerally. To watch Kyeoung over the course of her life is to love her.

I had the pleasure of reading this play last year and I just read it again tonight. It is as shockingly honest and beautiful as I remember it. Thank you, Ming, for this play, and congratulations on your well-deserved Drama Desk nomination. I hope to be able to personally see it on stage one day.
