Firefound

by Lauren Davenport

Six strangers of the late eighteenth century hunt for their memories of how and why they came to be at the edge of the world. Their story, they come to realize, is not just one of tragedy but of humanity in every part. Audience interactive.

This really hit me hard, drawing tears from me at the end. There is no easy way to describe this story as it is many stories. Like a landscape painting you can zoom in and out of and see as much detail or wide views as you want. It's spooky, sad and lovely. It's sci-fi, it's romance, it's horror. It's a story you love, but with new details you didn't see before because they were hidden in the valley where the pages of the book meet. I will be thinking about this play for a long time.

A fantastical setting filled with intrigue, but it leaves ample room for its delightfully likeable cast to breathe and interact. A deep, ghost story that gripped me with its twists and questions, and has a dark lingering effect after it's done.
