The play re-imagines the narrative from a feminist perspective, following Mary’s struggles as a young, unmarried, pregnant woman in an unsympathetic ancient Judea, as well as her powerful crusade to bring the truth of her child’s identity to light. • Joseph – Her fiancé
• Gabriel – An angel.
• Ann – Her mother / Elisheva – Mary’s older cousin, 40s
• Joachim – Her father / A Priest from the Temple of Jerusalem, 40s
• A Shepherd - Should be played by a female identifying person. Any age.
