  • Rachel Bublitz: The Gun Show

So deeply personal, specific, and engaging. It looks at gun ownership at a way that surprised me, while also never preaching or demanding I agreed with it. Fantastic play.

This is a script that manages to be personal yet universal, political yet not didactic, and uniquely theatrical. Beautifully done.

  • Sheila Cowley: The Gun Show

So honest about the lure and danger of guns, so truthful about mixed feelings that aren't on one side or the other of a polarizing question. It's a wonderful realization that everyone, including extremists on both sides, just wants to feel safe. The choice of having a masculine man voice a woman's perspective is a beautiful dichotomy that resonates throughout the play. A powerful play, beautifully written.

An earth shattering play-- towards the end it blossoms into something truly beautiful. I left shaking. A great great piece.

  • Donna Hoke: The Gun Show

I was fortunate to see an intimate and early incarnation of this show at the 2013 Dramatists Guild conference, and have just read the newest version. If possible, it's even more compelling, more precise, more haunting, more personal. You can't walk away without rethinking everything you thought you knew. A beautiful piece of work.

  • Stephanie Alison Walker: The Gun Show

Raw and unsettling in the very best way. This play is deeply effecting and incredibly powerful. In The Gun Show, Ellen bravely shares five true gun stories from her life as a way to reclaim the conversation about guns that has been hijacked by the extremes. This piece is fierce and human and punctuated with Ellen's humor… it should be produced everywhere. Not only is it an incredible vehicle for a strong actor, our country needs it.

  • Brian James Polak: The Gun Show

Brave, imaginative, and yet beautifully simply. This deeply personal work about guns is no polemic. It's a story about the complicated relationships people have with guns, and exposes the audience to a point of view it has likely never experienced on the subject. It's a wonderful work that should be required reading for all Americans.

Deeply personal and yet universally relevant. This play is a riveting exploration of America's love/hate relationship with guns.

My other favorite EM Lewis play (the other is TRUE STORY). A wonderfully honest piece that also deconstructs the idea of a one-person show.
