It doesn't matter how much we learn about space travel and the universe itself, matters of the heart will always be complicated! BOLDLY GO puts a messy reunion in the airlock of a spaceship. Matt Barbot pulls from recognizable science fiction trope, making them fresh and new in this 10-minute play! An ideal play for any sci-fi lover! And it would be so much fun to produce!

What a great little piece for a sci-fi themed night of short plays! It will delight all the Trekkers in your crowd while bringing a warm smile those who have no idea what a red shirt means.

I find futuristic and space plays intriguing. Like the setting and concept. Enjoyed the changing witty relationship.

There's an element of surprise from page one which kept me leaning in. One minute dry, scientific Mason is explaining to Gil what happens if you need to go to the bathroom in space and later he's quoting a bit of poetry. When Mason offers Gil a moment of hope at the end of the play, it's a pleasant surprise. Spare dialogue, a short play that requires careful listening.

I love that a play set in a future full of unimaginable technology and scientific advancement still turns on love and is driven by very human emotion and caprice. Wonderfully evocative!

What a witty take on the conventions of the "space, the final frontier" school of sci-fi! The mixture of romantic and professional tension plays out to a very satisfying, dare I say moving, conclusion.

One of the best sci-fi's I've read. Entertaining and utterly captivating. Love.

The banter between these two characters is sweet and intriguing. Very real and also, sometimes, very beautiful. What a treat!

This play still sits with me after seeing it in a little one-off reading years ago -- a sci-fi slice of life that poignantly milks the tropes of the genre into a tender and funny relationship parable, delightful and deep just long enough to feel its moment is earned when it decides to strum the strings of the heart and the head. I'd happily see this a staple of one-act festivals nationwide.

To boldly go where no audience has gone before. An original, entertaining, intelligent sci-fi play on love and relationships. Barbot's imagination on display in this play makes me want to check out his other plays.
