As someone who appreciates clever dialogue and unexpected twists, "Surprise" surpassed my expectations. The banter between Peter and Whitney is both humorous and smart, creating a lighthearted atmosphere even in the face of a breakup. Despite the fantastical element of psychic abilities, the play delves into relatable themes of relationships, communication, and the challenges of understanding one another. The relatability of these themes adds a universal appeal to the play.

Funny, sweet, and charming! You don't have to be a psychic to know this snappy little short would be an audience favorite in any festival! Really fun!

Mark Harvey Levine's SURPRISE is comedy at its best with an amazing premise and hilarious wordplay throughout. The clever story could go in so many directions and ends with a wonderful 'surprise' of its very own. Levine is a writer who never disappoints and it's clear why this fun, high-energy play has enjoyed so much success, too.

SURPRISE had me at the line "I've lost my lesbians"! Mark Harvey Levine has written a banger of a comedy - not only does every single joke land, its lands on both the verbal and visual levels. As someone who has long studied metaphysics, I found the subject matter particularly compelling. To say any more would be to give too much away, other than to say Mark Harvey Levine is a master at the craft of short-play writing, and one should always choose the waffles. Part slapstick, part spiritual, and all a joy. Can't wait to see the next production.

This play is absolutely delightful! The concept is so unique and hilarious and the witty lines had me smiling the entire time I was reading it.

Mark Harvey Levine does it again with a highly original premise that leads to terrific comedy, relateable conflict, and a twist that - ironically - the audience sees coming before the protagonist (read the play to get the irony!). A very special, meticulously-crafted short play.

There are several reasons this very funny short comedy has been produced worldwide since 2000: terrific timing not only on verbal jokes but also visual ones, a central premise that skews from the expected to the ridiculous, and at its core a situation that a lot of people can relate to -- the breakup of a relationship. And the sweet ending is well deserved.

Mark Harvey Levine delivers an absolutely beautiful script for theaters at all levels -- high school, college, community, professional -- to produce. "Surprise" is outstanding for performers, directors, and audiences.

Flawless. Mark Harvey Levine's Surprise had me laughing almost before it began, and you don't have to be psychic to know that this play is a sure fire audience pleaser wherever it is produced. Can wait to see it on stage!
