Amanda, the mollusk collection manager at a regional natural history museum, has very few memories of her childhood. Her brother Reggie, a directionless perpetual student, also has a mysterious blank slate where the past is concerned - that is, until he participates in a scientific study designed to test memory processes. The events he starts to recall threaten to upend the balance of his unpredictable family – but are his memories real?

What happens next makes Amanda start to question her own recollections as she struggles to contend with her increasingly delusional brother, her philandering husband, the impending loss of her terminally ill father, a role in a local community theater production and coming to terms with both her past and her present.

A look into the memory of mayhem, or the mayhem of memory, The Memory of Mollusks was a Finalist for the 2012 Eugene O'Neill Center's National Playwrights Conference.
