Act 1: Mentirosa | Melina is the smart sister, Graciela is the pretty one, and Rosa is the one who lies. Their lives change when a wolf comes to town.

Act 2: Doctors Without Borders | Whatever Marco did, Teo would do. Teo became a doctor because Marco became a doctor. Then one day something changed. In the kitchen of their childhood, under the eyes of saints, the brothers replay what should have been. This is a play about what goes between the lines, how we earn our place in heaven, how earn our place on earth.

Act 3. Between Brother and Sister | Martin and Briana recount a car trip when they were younger — and tell the story of the brother they lost.

Brothers, Sisters, Santos

This play left me with the deep questions I always hope to have after encountering a piece of theatre. The consequences of turning away from each other, from pain. The haunting nature of losses that don't make sense. The costs of choosing your own small needs over the large needs of someone who needs help. The ways we turn away. This collection asks us to look into the darkest places in our hearts, to stare our failures of love in the face. Oglesby uses theatrical magic (and magical thinking) to relive memory and try to make sense of loss. Stunning.

All three of these short plays deal with estrangement and loss in intelligent, clever ways. The fairy-tale aspect in the second half of Mentirosa is beautifully evocative. Doctors Without Borders has a finely executed structure that is matched by the emotional twists & turns in the play. Unique, specific characters throughout the whole of Brothers, Sisters, Santos.
