Bag of Bones (or The Circuz)

The south of the wall has been visited by a mysterious Circus which has turned reporters into marionettes, cops into chorizo and the town into ghosts, unleashing The Big Top Wars. Written at the height of genocide and murder in Escobar's hometown of Ciudad Juarez, Bag of Bones is a macabre farce that explores the discomfort of violence through exaggeration, faith through senses, and the cynicism of a land divided in two.

A revealing look into a circus of reporters, cops and a ghost town as we look at violence, faith and the outlook of the land divided. Well done.

An unflinching look at border issues that is simultaneously beautiful and grotesque, dreamlike and nightmarish. Like much of Escobar's work, this play provides an excellent opportunity for directors, actors and designers alike to stretch their imaginations to bring this play to life.

Violence along the border, attitudes between cultures, hybridity of culture, and the place of the press and individuals are rolled together in a theatrical work that would make a point and tell a great story at the same time. This play covers a very relevant borderland issue in an incredibly beautiful and stylish way.

This is a truly theatrical piece. Directors, Actors, and especially designers would all be inspired by The Circuz.
