I felt breathless when I reached the end of the beautiful, complex, heart-rending play. Raker has created a prophetic and timely story of survival and creation in a truly frightening, tragic landscape. dry bones rising is an important play.

I had the pleasure of directing a reading of an early version of this play and then of seeing a reading of a later version. This is a haunting, funny, sad, and thought provoking piece about where our world might be headed. It is filled with both the echos of religious archetypes and the unfiltered clarity of childhood. This play also has ample opportunity/obligation for intense physical storytelling.

Cecelia Raker has a strong and unique voice. I don't know anyone who writes like her: comic and tragic, innocent and knowing, deceptively simple yet amazingly complex. dry bones rising is a brilliant play that cuts to the heart of what it means to be human.
