cannot recommend this verdant, lush, utterly original play enough. the narrator makes the scenery bloom before your eyes as the rest of the characters build a universe through whip-smart ripostes and things-left-unsaid. unsettling and funny. nothing else like it.

Saw this play a Powerhouse and so glad I did - intense, terrifying and some of the smartest writing I've seen. This play is ready to make an explosion.

It is the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's pleasure to recommend Liza Birkenmeier and their play radio island as a finalist for our 2017 National Playwrights Conference. The play rose through a competitive, anonymous, multileveled selection process that took nearly nine months to execute. As one of 55 finalists out of more than 1,300 submissions, the strength of its writing has allowed this work to prosper in such a competitive selection process.
