In The Closet

by Siegmund Fuchs

The show takes place inside a large metaphorical closet. Three gay men, each struggling with their own reasons for retreating back into the closet, are soon joined by JOHN, who runs into the closet just after his first gay sexual encounter. The four men explore the varied reasons one might re-closet oneself in this cross-generational look at going back into the closet.

Such a powerful look at "the closet." Every gay man or woman knows this struggle or will at some point. It's the reasons we all have or will struggle with. A very welcome piece of theatre that isn't afraid to be gay.

IN THE CLOSET puts a theatrical spin on the idea that coming out of the closet isn’t a singular event for member of the LGBTQ+ community—it's something we have to do over and over again at different points in our life. Fuchs' take on the metaphorical closet as a “warm, lovely place that’s safe and feels like home” is unique and strangely comforting. With opportunities for four versatile actors to shine, IN THE CLOSET would make a great addition to a queer festival or perfect pick for Pride Month.
