A horror night story to chill you to your bones! No one's getting out of here unscathed, not from Bloody Mary! Well done.

  • Eytan Deray: Bloody Mary

By combining very real psychological turmoil and a classic supernatural horror story, Aleks Merilo's 10-minute gives audiences something even worse than an urban legend to be frightened of. Put the setting in the dark, and Merilo scares you out of your wits. I wish more horror plays like this existed. Well-done!

  • Scott Sickles: Bloody Mary

Bone chilling horror piece! Three girls, all 13, face threats both supernatural (which may or may not be real) and corporeal (definitely, definitely real). The tension builds fast causing the girls to turn on each other, using the past as a weapon sharpened by their prejudices. All the while, a great menace looms closer and closer. Terrifying. Easy to stage. Great roles for three young female actors.

One thing turns into another very quickly in this taut and haunting short play from Merilo, which is edge-of-your-seat gripping and ultimately, harrowing and heartbreaking. I don't want to give away any spoilers but suffice it to say that this play has much to say about power and the unseen suffering of children. Should be read and produced.
