When Sam volunteers to help mentor an ex-con just coming out of prison, he is given a strict set of rules for his own protection, he can’t give his mentee any money, or tell him his home address. But when Sam meets Jesse, the young man he’s assigned to mentor, his earnest desire to help leads him to become more deeply involved than he should. As their lives become more intertwined, Sam begins to realize that he has exposed his home, marriage and career to a young man he knows nothing about. Is Jesse a threat to Sam and his wife? Or is it Sam, with his good intentions and unexamined prejudices, who is the real danger?
