Act one takes place in 1968 when Raphael visits her son and daughter-in-law (in Dallas, TX) directly from a four-year stint in the Vietnam War, running an officer’s club. When she shares news of the war in front of Russ, her 10-year-old grandson, such talk is forbidden. A power struggle between the two women ignites, figuratively and literally.

Act Two skips to 1982, when Raphael has a stroke and must return to her son's household for supervision. The family drama of international and local affairs continues to battle on home turf, but as the conflict affects Russ’s life, these women must find peace together.
