Absolutely delightful and funny play about friendship and connections, with four wonderful roles for older actors and characters any audience would love. So good!

We included this play in our high school senior-directed one-act festival and it closed out one of the evenings and was the perfect way to end, leaving the audience smiling and laughing! While the characters are all much older than the student actors were, everyone on stage and in the audience responded to these delightful characters and felt a connection to them, despite the decades that may have separated them.

As someone with two Jewish grandmothers, a lot of the banter and conversation was very familiar to me, and I really found it to be funny. A quick, witty, relatable play with great characters and a hilarious ending.

The vetting committee is here to approve of Gwen’s new date! We all need friends like this. What a sweet and funny play, with quick witted lines that ring oh, so true. You will be smiling, laughing, and crossing your fingers that Hugh passes the test. A festival winner!

MARJ O’NEILL-BUTLER’s play, “Gwen Has A Date”, is a sweet, endearing, and charming piece in which two girlfriends come to vet Gwen’s date. In the final analysis, only the two on the date can decide if their date is someone they want to continue seeing. I love all the characters are older.

Funny and full of heart. A brilliant play for festivals with characters we need to see more of on the stage. Marj is a great writer who packs so much into 10 minutes.

A fun play about the trials of returning to dating after many years. I feel like I know these characters and appreciate the glimpse into their world. Actors would have a blast performing.

The witty dialogue brings four distinct characters to riotous life. Really, the laugh out loud moments just keep coming and coming. Wonderful roles for actors of a certain age and a sweetly satisfying ending.

O’Neill-Butler’s characters are expertly and efficiently drawn in these brisk ten pages that fly right by. Highly recommended for festivals featuring senior performers.
