Sometimes it's just that simple, when you can craft a character like Femia, all you need is a single interesting statement to take something that plays at the known and make it new. Not a moment wasted, sharp as always.

I can't believe I haven't commented on this. JUMP is the ten-minute play I recommend to readers, writers, and enthusiasts of well-constructed theatre to take a look at. There's a mystery that is simultaneously high stakes yet naturally paced, rooted in a very human need to grieve yet love and celebrate, and enjoy life. I <3 this play and can't recommend more highly

A beautifully written play, incredibly moving in it's succinctness, with roles actors will love to dig into!

Femia is so succinct in her short work, she doesn't waste one word. Everything expresses theme and character, and it's lovely to read. In JUMP we see two friends after the death of their friend, and both are so well drawn and complex. They share a great moment, that doesn't ever feel stagnant or overly sentimental. Highly recommend you read this, and more by Gina Femia!

The titanic, mermaids and finally a friend/lover who jumped into the ocean. The play sets you up for the magnitude of the loss with these conversations. You mourn with Froggy and North. With such nuanced characters, you feel their loss intently. There's such honesty and beauty in this script that you become emotionally attached to all three characters.

Femia crafts deep characters with quick brushstrokes -- like looking at a rich painting that you want to figure out. Her work is an invitation to slow down and look closer. Froggie and North are perfect foils for one another, a classic conflict between magical thinking and realism. The conversation about the sinking of the Titanic grounds this short play, moving us fluidly from the emotional distance of colossal loss to the immediate, specific, hard reality of losing someone who you thought you understood. Truly moving and lovely.

Like with her other short plays, Gina Femia captures an emotional intensity that's always a page-turner. The intensity in this play feels real, never contrived because the characters are so alive. They're alive because their mourning -- the pain and sadness and confusion -- is totally relatable.
