  • Ryan Kaminski: The Snake on the Steering Wheel

Heartwarming, thoughtful, and funny! You feel the love between these two characters as they navigate a sensitive situation. Hope and love triumphs over all. Well done!

Oh, this is lovely. Filled with twists and turns, not unlike a snake coiled around a steering wheel seeking warmth in the light. A great two-hander for mature female-identifying actors, the play is rife with history and emotion -- so much trepidation and love. It's also super easy to produce so here's hoping it's produced everywhere. Again, just lovely.

  • Philip Middleton Williams: The Snake on the Steering Wheel

This is a tale of love in a way that truly conveys the deep connection two people have even as they brace themselves for slipping away and apart. In this short moment, we see how much love and commitment can strengthen the bond. A wonderful, funny, heart-tugging piece.

Cathro gives us the rollercoaster ride of love, commitment, memory loss, and aging in just 6 pages dramatizing both the humor and seriousness of the situation in a way that's relatable to all.

In 'The Snake on the Steering Wheel,' DC Cathro has written a wonderful short play that explores intersecting identities incredibly well. An elderly same-sex couple is grappling with implications of memory loss at the same time as examining their own relationship and the complicated issue of marriage for longtime queer couples. Heartbreaking and touching, with comedy too, this short play would make a great addition to play festivals.
