This play has so much you can play around with. It has a sad plot, yet humor that makes its way in and out of it. It is a darker play but it is handled in a lighter manner which makes it a really nice play to read and gives a lot of opportunity for actors to play around with it. There is also a nice character dynamic that feels very realistic. Very well-written play.

This is a moving play about dying and undying love; the things we can't say when we're in pain for someone else. Even with all of that, there is humor and filial closeness. A beautiful piece of writing about teenaged twins.

Theater at its best offers opportunities to ponder the mysteries of life, and one of the greatest mysteries of life is death. In Buried, expertly read at the 2019 Midwest Dramatist Conference, Audrey Webb ups the stakes as she explores the subject of death with quiet intensity through the lense of teenage fraternal twins. The teenagers' sparkling dialogue is authentic and specific to each character; the emotions (including the "buried" emotions) are honest and profound without being overwrought. This short piece proves once again that big things can indeed come in small packages.

Generally, my tear ducts are purely decorative, but after seeing a reading of this play at the Midwest Dramatists Conference, I was on the verge of blubbering. Webb has crafted a slice-of-end-of-life piece that’s heartbreakingly realistic. The sibling banter feels authentic, but it’s the deeper question of what happens to you when the person your identity has been built around your whole life is gone gives it a real resonance and heft. Beautifully done!

This play subverted my expectations in the best possible way. It presented an intimate glimpse into the relationship between two siblings without defining them by their circumstances. I saw a reading at the 2019 Midwest Dramatists Conference and would love to see it produced.

Audrey Webb has written a poignant mix of elegy and drama – with the right amount of humor laced in – about a teenage boy trying to come to terms with the looming death of his cancer-stricken twin sister, who’s already accepted her fate. We watch as he tries, with her help, to work through his guilt and fear as well as a need to apologize for something he did long ago. Webb has built the kind of fragile, charged atmosphere that touches the heart. A lovely, sad piece that leads to a sense of grace.

Buried is a gem of a short play. A reading I saw at the Midwest Dramatists Conference was a near-perfect rendering that captured the special bond between the teenage twins that Webb has so masterfully created.

A subtle study of the dynamics of the complicated relationship between twins and the difficulty when one of them is dying. It's textured, layered and very touching. Webb has crafted a play that allows the audience its own feelings while gently leading us to its poignant conclusion.

There is a special bond between twins that perhaps only twins can share or understand. Here we have the potential dislocation between the dying girl and the still healthy boy, and part of what's touching about this play is how it oscillates between lines "on the nose" and lines that are deep subtext. There's a whole spectrum of emotion between comedy and sadness. A beautifully written piece.
