Who takes care of the caretakers? Who gives gifts to the gift givers? People like Peter Cratchit often get forgotten about because people are so busy asking him for help. It can be exhausting. This play is quite lyrical and lovely how it shows how easy a kind heart can be burnt out when they forget WHERE their kindness stems from. A wonderful sequel to a Christmas Carol that also gives honor to other religious denominations as well, by way of Scrooge himself. Consider adding this to your holiday programming!

When you have a tale like "A Christmas Carol" its difficult to imagine anyone creating a new twist for it, but Kerr has and in an expert fashion. While the piece is set long after Scrooge's night with the spirits, as a wonderfully written story in which Peter Cratchit has reached a crossroads in his life and has to be shown where his choices could lead. Its a wonderful play with a great sense of community and I can imagine would be great to produce. My heartiest congratulations Kerr, you know how to keep Christmas all the year!

A crafty follow up to the Charles Dickens’s Christmas classic, A Christmas Carol. Slyly managing to bridge Victorian charity and the modern world of social insurance and non profit organisations, Lockhart extends the pageant of memorable characters, a Christmas gift for director, actor and designer all year round! With underlying, subversive, knotty reversals yet keeping the well-loved story set pieces, this is both rueful rumination and a warm-hearted family entertainment, as double edged as the real life character of Dickens himself.

A fantastic Christmas sequel where the son gets tired of charity and has his own journey to go on. With lessons for all, this is a great tale for the holiday season. Well done.

KERR LOCKHART’s play, “Peter Cratchit, Esq.”, is marvelous and witty. I had the honor of reading for Ebenezer Scrooge, who has been ‘among the spirits’ for forty years. You will remember the main characters from the Dickens play, but you probably will be surprised at what happens four decades later as three new ghosts visit a grownup Peter, Bob Crachit’s eldest son. I thoroughly enjoyed this play and fully expect audiences will, too. BRAVO!

Christmas in August? Why not? This tale, this carol, taking the beloved Dickens story and making it just as meaningful and spiritual -- in every sense -- as the original gives added meaning to what giving and life is all about. Kerr Lockhart's inventiveness and his way with both the characters and their setting brings dimension to them that would be wondrous to behold. But unlike the original "A Christmas Carol," this is a play that deserves to be seen all year around.

A sequel to Dickens's classic, the son of Bob and Emily Cratchit is the director of the charitable organization left behind by Ebenezer Scrooge. Lockhart creates snappy, witty conversation, and peoples the story with characters original and familiar, a celebration of the world of non-profit and the pople in it. It's a new holiday classic!

This is just wonderful! I love everything about it: revisiting beloved characters and meeting them in a new light, the sublimely theatrical possibilities for staging, and most of all, the love that Lockhart has for his characters, his subject matter, and the source material – a love that shines through with every word. As Chelsea Frandsen noted in her recommendation: this should be a Holiday staple. Perhaps produced in rep with the Dickens' original?

What a fantastic continuation of the beloved Dickens original--a look at Peter Cratchit and the man he became, and a heartwarming examination of how one single person can touch so many and the power of love. Lockhart's script had me both grinning like a loon and tearing up. This play would be a wonderful addition to any theatre's season and should become--like it's predecessor--a Christmas tradition!
