Recommendations of REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS

  • Karen Lothan: REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS

I would love to see this produced. It’s a funny, poignant play about the nature of crime, delusion, and the connections that survival sometimes leads us to make. “Reasonable Accommodations,” is an engaging, intimate portrait of two memorable characters desperately trying to manipulate each other out of the situations in which they find themselves. Entertaining and thought provoking.

  • Spencer Huffman: REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS

Dani and Wilson make for an engaging, genuinely funny, and often touching duo. Though the literal subject of LC's play is tiny (indeed, a tiny house), the play's stakes are high and its themes, consequential and relevant. YARD WORK achieves a lovely balance of comedy and drama while consistently forcing the audience to question typical conceptions of charity, community, and ownership. This is a daring play, which begs for a thoughtful and bold production.

  • Gus Riley: REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS

It's funny, it's sharp, and it makes you think. YARD WORK is an amazing story of good intentions, the past, and how we reconcile the two. LC presents two incredible characters tethered together by circumstance who butt heads in the most entertaining way. Dani is set in her ways, un-sanctimonious, and brimming with wit, while Wilson is a study in eccentricity, bluster, and comedy. Themes of sustainability, benevolence, and pragmatism make this play important now more than ever.

  • Mia McCullough: REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS

These two characters are so weird and wonderful. LC creates an intimate world of two struggling humans that ends up addressing the issues of capitalism and homelessness, but in a way that seeps in quietly. Nothing in this play hits you over the head. It's subtle and lovely.

  • Zack Peercy: REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS

This play doesn't shy away from the complex moral questions that arise when someone decides to Do Good. Centering around a landlord/tenant relationship, YARD WORK presents two characters on the verge of change, grappling with all the small details that come with it. Until now, there has never been a play that has made IRS infractions, city ordinance disputes, and homeowner's rights feel electric, meaningful, and vital to the human condition. This show demands to be produced.

  • Emily Hageman: REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS

This beautifully understated play may appear tiny on first glance, but grows larger the more you think about it. Bernadine has constructed something remarkable in the pages of YARD WORK--a play that doesn't need to shout to be heard. Neither Dani nor Wilson are perfect--they've got problems falling out their ears--but Bernadine draws them together unpredictably and masterfully. An interesting little show that would be a delight to see staged--and an important work that questions human motivation, genuineness of relationships, and how ugly things can be painted into something almost...
