Recommendations of Man and Moon

  • Brynn Hambley: Man and Moon

A gorgeous piece exploring change, loss, grief, and death through the eyes of two people who have experienced so much hurt and yet still hold so much hope. What an unlikely and yet perfect pairing these two characters make-- they are so different and yet their differing experiences are what make the similar ones all the more significant. MAN AND MOON feels like when you fell asleep in the car as a child and your parent carried you to bed. Necessary reading for anyone coping with big life changes.

Stunningly beautiful. The story of two unlikely united by the common enemy of impending mortality and a refusal to give up hope, MAN AND MOON is a seamless combination of reality and magic that takes you to that special place beyond the stars where few plays dare to tred.

  • Audrey Lang: Man and Moon

A powerful story of finding human connection in a place that is at once the worst place to be, and also the most normal place to be, at least for Luna. “Man and Moon” does a phenomenal job of making the universe small and the people in it enormous.

  • Nick Malakhow: Man and Moon

A spectacular piece that's propelled forward by beautifully-observed, human, naturalistic dialogue, as well as profound truths captured in spare, lyrical phrasing. I was thoroughly engaged in this piece throughout and appreciated the way that it took such heavy subject matter and eschewed contrived or sentimental theatrics in favor of small, seismic, and incredibly nuanced character shifts. The moments and decision-making around Luna's invitation to Aaron for her presentation were touching, wrenching, real. This play is intimate and producible, and I hope it has a long life on the stage!

  • James Fleming: Man and Moon

A beautiful coming of age play about a middle school girl and a twenty-something trans man with breast cancer. Siena's writing is both mythic and humane - equal parts poetic and true-to-life. You'll love spending time with these two fully formed characters as they discuss life & death. Like Thornton Wilder, Siena invites us to contemplate our place in the universe and reminds us that the only constant in life is change.

There is a mysticism to Siena Marilyn Ledger's writing that is profoundly impacted by the use of silence. MAN AND THE MOON utilizes this mysticism and a certain directness that makes this hard-hitting two-hander a journey of acceptance, discovery, friendship, love, and loss that resonates on multiple levels. #PlaywrightPlug

  • Paul Vintner: Man and Moon

Beautiful look at the evolution of a friendship between two complex individuals trying to heal in different ways. Initially an intrusion made by one to stave off boredom, the relationship gradually transforms into a welcome distraction and ultimately, a real source of comfort. It is a pleasure getting to see these characters bond; so much is said in small moments that carry great weight and add an extraordinary depth to the proceedings. Not a lot happens, but by the end, you feel just as transformed.
