A really well-written short play with complex roles for Native actors. Studi does a great job portraying what it is like for Native people to have to assimilate while also holding tight to their traditions. Studi wonderfully keeps the reader engaged in this play about a father and daughter who deeply need each other. The Cherokee words and traditions are very easy to follow without the play feeling overly didactic. Quoya Waters goes through some real growth in just a few short pages.

A beautifully written origin myth where the hero is asked to take on her true identity. With twists and turns, Studi brings us into the heart and soul of Quoya as she questions her purpose in the world. This would be so beautiful on its feet! Even on the page it has strong rhythms and images that create an entire world.

Wow, what a theatrical punch in a few short pages! Studi deftly chooses not to "show her hand" of this play's reveal until exactly the right moment. Add dreams, symbolism, the binding love of a father-daughter relationship, and a main character searching for how to navigate this future, and Studi's play is sure to have audiences thinking about their beloved family members and the meanings of their dreams.
