My Dear Hussein

by Nahal Navidar

Parvaneh loves all the things a typical four-year-old is supposed to love: singing and dancing, going on adventures with her life-sized toy dog Hussein, and “special time” with Mom and Dad when the night lights up and crackles with a BOOM! As the war outside rages on however, the lines between reality and fiction blur as Parvaneh must quickly learn the difference between right and wrong.

Delightful and heartbreaking story of a young girl living through horrifying times. Wonderful Middle Eastern characters. If you're going to read only one play about war, read this one.
