Unsettling and original, "The In-Between" heightens the theatricality of its exploration of hatred, Islamophobia, and assumptions about identity with subtle but palpable supernatural elements. The stage images and nuanced physical metaphors threaded throughout present an arc of slowly building terror that combusts in the final act in an appropriately explosive, tragic ending. I'd love to see a creative company tackle this piece in production!

A thriller at its best. We're captivated from start to finish so much so that I'd be hanging on to it for dear life even if there wasn't the silver lining bonus of learning about a culture and it's integral to the plot. It also conquers so many stereotypes and prejudices. It's a gift to a middle easterner when you read a play involving your culture that is this good. Produce this! It's absolutely brilliant!

Cultures, lives, genders, and even supernatural forces collide in this dark, taut thriller. There are notes of "The Humans" and "Belleville" -- all against a backdrop of a revolution stirring human passions across the world -- but the final tone is all Fahmy's.
