Dueling crossword puzzles? I’m in, especially when they’re as witty and erudite as these two. Let me ask you, Donna: did you write this by hand first? In ink? I hope so.

Oh, this one is a lot of fun. And I’m a sucker for any play with good number play in it. Funny for everyone, but a special treat for puzzle lovers. I can see why this one has been done a lot.

I loved this! I laughed out loud and found myself thinking at the same time. And just as I was wondering how on earth it could possibly wrap up, bam - the fun, surprise ending. So enjoyable!

The wit that Donna can inject into so few pages never ceases to amaze me. With 15 minutes free and nothing to do at your desk, I challenge anyone to find me as consistently pleasing an activity as reading a Hoke short play.

Wow. Such a brilliant idea! The two characters, a Sudoku & Crossword puzzle, are locked in a battle of words (and numbers) over who should be solved. Donna Hoke’s dialogue is extremely witty and remarkably clever. It had me laughing out loud. This play would be a highlight of any 10 minute play lineup.

Go to give it to Donna, she knows how to build a clever concept and reward the audience with its execution. This show is a perfect example of what a 10 minute play should be. A battle of wits between two puzzles can only be done right by somebody that knows how to solve them.

What a clever play! I adore the language play and pithy humor Hoke volleys around — She makes it look easy! This would be great fun for a wide range of audiences and players, from teens to adults — in performance or a staged reading. It has a driving rhythm that draws you in, and an engaging, hilarious tension. It's the Crossword Puzzle/Sudoko Smackdown we puzzle people needed in our lives! Thank you, Ms. Hoke!
