Happily, I have known families like this who bring everyone closer through food when there is grief on the menu. You can smell and yes, almost taste what's cooking in that kitchen.

A beautiful ode to family and the recipe for facing grief, together. Haas’s masterful dialogue sings with humor and heart. This play made me long for homemade Italian food, no really - it’s mouthwatering in the way it depicts cooking - and it made me feel a soulful connection between older traditions and sustaining the future.

Such an authentic rendering of family sorority and the ways we carry on both in the face of loss and over time. Beautifully done and so relatable; you'll feel at home.

A real, funny and rich capture of working through grief in a family full of tradition and love. Well done!

A richly layered, funny and moving portrait of Italian-American women coping with grief and coping with family. Beneath all the bickering and drama lies a solid foundation of love and shared history. And food. The food would be enough, but it's just one reason to want to be a part of the world of Sunday Sauce.

This is a solidly structured play with fast-paced dialogue and well-drawn "fine wine" characters that took me back to my old neighborhood and memories of Italian-American culture. A believable, heartfelt story that leaves us very satisfied with SUNDAY SAUCE !

OMG I LOVE THIS PLAY. Every single word of it, because every single word is so recognizably, hilariously true. Even the bittersweet moments are infused with a knowing humor that propels the play forward. There is so much love here, between the squabbling sisters at the heart of the play and in the writing, it's irresistible. And, as intentioned, the roles for "fine wine" actresses (as Haas refers to them) are rich and delicious. Like a good Sunday Sauce.

Growing up in an Italian household, this play brought back a mixture of painful and fond memories. The death of a family member is always a hard process, but Haas and her characters tell a heartwarming story that’ll make you laugh and cry. You genuinely feel for these characters, as the pain they experience is relatable to all who have grieved over the death of a family member. Bravissimo, Claudia Haas!

Sunday Sauce is delicious. The play captures the way comedy and tragedy can play off each other in times of grief, and the five characters--especially the three sisters of a(n un)certain age--are clearly, lovingly, and hilariously drawn. Like the opera in the background of this play, the stakes and drama are always high and the passions intense. At the same time, the characters are lovable and rich in their own right and in their connections to their culture and one another. A warm, true, funny, wonderful play.
