Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

by Stuart Hoffman

When two aggressive cinephiles cross paths, tempers flare and sparks fly. However, when their abrasive personalities put their jobs at risk, they must rely on the last person they expect to for help: each other. Playing homage to the screwball comedies of the 1930s and 1980s rom-coms, in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, no film remains unscathed.

I don't think you have to know movies to appreciate this amazing script that is both intelligent and witty. The romantic tension between the two main characters is both charming and caustic, but not without its rewards. It is a wonderful play for those who love the movies, and a wonderful movie play for those who love to play with film.

Cleverly written for those who are a fan of film. A “rom-com” that isn’t really a rom-com. Will definitely leave you satisfied and wanting to know more about the characters - more than just the two main protagonists. Would recommend for those looking for something different!

Hoffman's script is sweetly smart romantic comedy (should I say "rom-com"?) about what movies mean to people, and why some folks obsess about discussing and debating them. It's about symbolism and sentiment, how we talk about movies to share secret knowledge and express secret feelings. With two complex and interesting leads, it deceptively explores and explodes storytelling tropes with wit and wisdom. Check it out!
