Who knew that there was such a detailed hierarchical system to be found in nerdom? Vansant's play is a delightful, wholesome, and above all, fun dive into languages and the spoken word. How they change, how they are made, and how to make one for a new episode of your nerdy sci-fi show in order to please your boss. Nerds are brutal. It's gotta be perfect. They've torn less to shreds, you know. Great fun and theatricality for all ages.

A very smart, nerdy story about embracing different cultures, seizing opportunities, and personal transformation. Vansant creates an enthralling story with some esoteric elements with passion and style.

A super-smart romantic comedy about coming of age, living one's dream and playing with language. Extremely witty, timely and theatrical. Would love to see this fully mounted and produced!

With its use of a Chorus, dreams, chatroom convos, gameshows, and constructed languages, Vansant's CONLANGIFIED creates a spectacle that's thoroughly theatrical.
The protagonist Eva's journey as an aspiring TV writer on a deadline, as well as her complicated relationship with sibling and potential lover is thoroughly satisfying as well - it's a complete journey from ignorance to understanding, growth.
Eva's journey makes you think about the journey we all must take navigating an American culture of different languages, situations, and people -- learning to adapt and accepting the challenge -- just dealing with it.

A captivating read that follows Vansant's 'Eva' on her journey of finding herself and juggling friends , family, relationships, and her big assignment which could springboard her career. This assignment turns out to be a catalyst that functions as equal part challenge to the protagonist and an eye opening lesson for the reader. A smart, funny story filled with heart and a great read.

Conlangified is a totally engaging mix of coming-of-age/coming-to-success in the world and rom-com, crafted with a highly theatrical sense of interplay between realistic scenes, a Greek (or Geek) Chorus, and moments when social media or chat rooms or video/TV or dreams moments come to life. Vansant's command of craft is considerable, and the metaphorical levels of the piece are captivating--with the creation of a new "conlang" (constructed language) paralleling the evolution of the relationship of two characters, and the "ways language can change" working in parallel with the changes in the main character. Really strong, clear, delightful storytelling.
