I grew up on Nantucket, going through Hyannis every time my family had to go somewhere. Bently-Quinn has delivered a heart-wrenching, true-to-life portrayal of life in a tourist destination in the off-season and what the recovery process is like. A truly beautiful script.

An extremely well crafted script about a very real current event that leads to such a potent ending.

A wonderful story filled with fully drawn, compelling characters. The plays dialogue flows, never once feeling false or forced. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. All HYANNIS needs is a champion from a major rep theatre and I'm sure it will have a nice, long regional life.

HYANNIS marks a dark and challenging time in American culture and does so with an ensemble of hopeful characters who all made my heart ache. This is a play that belongs on stages and anthologies and should go down in history with the other great American plays that shows us who we are and what our families and neighbors are struggling with. Teachers: teach this play not just as a great example of form and structure, but also as history so future generations can understand this time and place better.

The truths of HYANNIS will live with you long after you put down this play. The aching hearts, the desperation, the terrible power of addiction. Ms. Bentley-Quinn has painted a masterful portrait of both the beauty and the tragedy of small-town New England. Sparks of color beneath a massive sky of gray. I can't wait to see this on it's feet. It is a stunning work.

I loved this play. I was instantly present in the place and time of the story. The characters were people living their lives, with humor and anger, and awkwardness and pain. I read it twice and, each time, the ending sucker punched me in the gut, with the stark reality of addiction and the intangible quality of hope. The story was difficult and healing at the same time.
