Loverboy

After a long absence, Loverboy finally returns: to his childhood home, and his Mom. As they work to maintain an unexpected new business enterprise, the stampeding strangeness of Loverboy’s internal life threatens to irrevocably separate them. Loverboy is an ode to the bond between parent and child, an examination of belonging in the sharing-economy era, and a two-hander for approximately fifty-two performers.

A moving and unique portrait of a mother and a son (whose relationship is interestingly illuminated through an AirBnB business venture!). The specificity and closeness and beauty and precarity of that relationship is illustrated here with scenes that feel at once organic and highly theatrical all at once. Additionally, the theatrical grand gesture of the final quarter of the piece is striking and impactful. I'd really love to see this fully realized onstage!

The final scene of the play can utilize a variable large-cast ensemble, making it a great script for schools looking to introduce a big group of actors to a play production process!
