A painfully hilarious (hilariously painful?) depiction of writer's block. There are many witty lines throughout, a charming helpmeet for our tortured writer, and a delightful twist ending.

I love the way the timeline glitches slightly at the end of this! As a writer, I've been there. Although my stage directions would read, "Leaning back, hands behind head, eyes are closed and she IS asleep. THE END". But that's why PMW is a much better writer than I am! I love the characters in this piece and their relationship. It's very relatable and fun!

It's terrifying how accurate this depiction of writer's block is. This play has lovable characters, and a wonderful story that keeps you invested until the beautiful ending.

It’s amazing what a good sandwich can do at the right time.

Williams’s musing on the ebb and flow of inspiration, creativity, and marriage is utterly delightful. O, the agony when all of one’s best ideas belong to other people who did them better! But while there is frustration, this play spares us angst, instead providing joyful banter between two people who know and love each other. Their push-pull is so comfortable and natural, you feel that you know them, too. We want Joel to find the inspiration he craves even more than Liz’s sandwich!

This short play about a writer struggling with writer's block is both funny and relatable. I love the banter between Joel and Liz as he struggles to come up with an idea for a ten minute play. Joel coming up with the plot of The Zoo Story in particulate made me giggle - haven't we all applauded our own brilliance for a moment, before realizing we just thought up a story that already exists? This play is delightful.

There are no new ideas, just new... wait, someone already said that. Okay, the more things change the more... nope, that's been said too. What can I say about this that hasn't already been... nuts, everyone's said THAT at one point or another as well. Philip Middleton Williams manages to encompass that frustration that all writers have had in coming up with something to say, and he does it in one neat little 10 minute play. Now I'm going to go eat something so I can write...

An all-too-relatable and funny, sharp comedy about the hell that is writer's block. Philip Middleton Williams nails the dilemma with humor and crackling dialogue.

PHILIP MIDDLETON WILLIAMS has described the agony of being a writer and having writer’s block. “Here’s Your Sandwich” is a fun play and is so reminiscent of the times we, as writers, struggle for an idea - any idea - and think of the most weird and wild thoughts. It is part of the journey of creating our work. This play is ‘right on’ and is enjoyable to read and would delight audiences.

When writer's block has got you down, and you can't quite get the plot down, sometimes a cat can get things going. This short is a relate-able comic play for any writer, with quick, clever banter and a fun resolution!

It's hard to make an entertaining piece about a writer trying to write and failing (and who hasn't written one of those?), but this one works because of the unexpected and reality-bending conclusion. Engaging, amusing, and cleverly meta.
