A fun take on a classic relationship with clever dialogue! So enjoyable!

  • Robert Alexander Wray: HAMLET'S REVENGE

A funny and delightful take on all things Hamlet, and two super fun roles for actors. If brevity is the soul of wit, this play proves that axiom and then some.

I love this earl-of-sandwich Hamlet and his ghostly dad who neglected him (but hasn't forgotten him). Funny as HAMLET'S REVENGE is, Martha Patterson's modern take on this father-son conundrum rings true in our world of dysfunction. How many modern dads want payback for their absentee fathering? It also rings true about Shakespeare's play, as the father ghost has to remind his speechifying son of his long postponed vengeance. Part of the charm of this short play is how easy it is to see happening. Great job.

  • Susan Middaugh: HAMLET'S REVENGE

A fun twist on Shakespeare's tragedy. In this play, Hamlet starts out as a pacifist who likes ham sandwiches and plays on words. And like the original Hamlet, he can't make up his mind until the end when he takes up his father's sword.

  • Donald Loftus: HAMLET'S REVENGE

A funny twist in the Shakespeare classic. It is an ideal piece for a comic actor to show their stuff. Hamlet is a modern-day punk...outrageously funny and yet totally real. Great fun. I imagine the audience and cast experiencing have a blast!

  • Steven G. Martin: HAMLET'S REVENGE

I enjoyed a production of "Hamlet's Revenge" at the Academy Theatre in Hapeville, Georgia, during its 2019 short play festival, Tapas IV: The Great Divide. Patterson has written a fun parody of Shakespeare with plenty of nods to modern life, dramatic theory, and just plain silliness.

Fun stuff. Does a good job of mocking the whiny weirdo that is Hamlet, Dork of Denmark and his bizarre mommy fixation. Recommended.
