←Recommendations of Oh, No! I Flew Too Close to the Sun!

I'm on a bill with this play at Seoul Players in November, so I figured I'd give it a read. Talk about the actor's nightmare! This dark comedy is on a one-way trip, and lands with a thud. Brutus' contributions are hysterical.

Rand Higbee's gallows humor backstage comedy OH, NO! I FLEW TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN! is perfectly wound from setup to impactful conclusion like a classic Loony Tunes cartoon.

When a Greek myth hits the Roman Colosseum, the audience cheers (and chuckles)! A fun, dark, clever ride about throwing (flinging) oneself onto the stage. Now available for listening on the Gather by the Ghost Light podcast!

The darkest of comedies and a hoot to read. Would love to see this performed live! Playwright Rand Higbee expertly crafts this short play with humor and bite. Poor Icarus.

A wonderfully dark short play that covers the many emotions of an actor before their debut. You have to appreciate when they commit so fully to a role, even if they aren't aware of it. Delightful.

You only get to play Icarus once, and it's the role of a lifetime! Rand Higbee has a deliciously dark 10-minute comedy here that hits the exact right notes for what it sometimes feels like to be an actor taking method acting to a whole new level.

The dialogue and the build-up in this play make the audience both pity poor Festus and long to see him play what seems like his dream role. This is a brilliantly funny play that would be great to see live. Bravo!

Hysterical! Oh, poor people-pleasing Festus! Will he get his role of Icarus and the timing of his one line right or should have have signed up to play Sisyphus!? A fun meta-theatrical short play with superb moments for the sound and costume/props designers. Fun!

Talk about making an entrance! And, unfortunately for Festus, an exit at the same time. This is hysterical to read and I imagine even more so to see staged! And you can do just that if you happen to be in or around Chestetown, Maryland, June 23 to July 9!

Poor Festus doesn't know what he's getting into until he can't get out of it. A very clever premise and suitably witty dialogue make this play a comedic treasure.
