This is a fascinating play - I am furiously taking notes about how the playwright revealed information so deliberately through the masterful integration of two simultaneous timelines. While the structure and storytelling are phenomenal, I'm absolutely in love with the dialogue! It's natural, snappy, compelling, and feels effortless, despite doing a lot of narrative work. There is such a profound sense of loneliness in these characters, who are each hiding so much of themselves and so willing to see others clearly... if only they had a route in. A truly unique and interesting work!

This play is gorgeous. It shifts seamlessly back and forth in time as we follow these five women, and the dialogue is poetry. Just beautiful.

Oh my, what a powerful piece of art. I was enthralled by the multi-cultural descriptions and nuances. It's a story that centers around women, relationships, existential ideals, and it's so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. It's more than the words though, this play is well conceived through staging, through the dynamics of tension and love and loss. Two worlds in different times, crossing dimensions to connect the dots and tell an incredible story.

The first thing I did as soon as I read Stefani Kuo’s DELICACY OF A PUFFIN HEART is turn to my partner and tell them that they had to read it—immediately.

Time does not feel linear in this play, and Kuo seamlessly weaves together characters, connecting them through identity, loss, and liminality. Their loneliness jumps off of the page and clings to you as you read it.

I cannot put into words how devastatingly gorgeous this play is, but it’s the kind of theatre we need more of.

This play is masterfully woven. Relationships, identity, love, loss, and time, circle and wrap each scene like poetry. The loneliness is enhanced with the joy of the characters and vice versa. Would love to see this beautiful play realized on stage.

There are certain plays where the premise is both puzzling and alluring. Stefani Kuo's delicacy of a puffin heart is a play that you wonder about long after both reading and watching. The play kept me at the edge of my seat throughout and wouldn't let go of my heart and soul. It's a play that bears repeated reading, where revelations and turns feel so natural, and whose dialogue feels unlike anything you'll read. Give it a try. Better yet, produce it and see the possibility of a new kind of theatre.

This was a beautiful and surprising read. I loved the way it seamlessly navigated throughout time and space with poignant transitions that truly aided the storytelling. A turning point a little more than halfway through really surprised me in a fabulous way, and the characters' unique and distinct identities were so well drawn.

I highly enjoyed this heartbreaking play about female friendship, mental illness, and honesty, told with two sets of relationships. Guilt and faith also come into the relationships, and the writer is asking all the right difficult questions.
