What a wacky take on tales of chivalry in ye olden days! The gags, both verbal and visual, come fast and furious. Read it and howl with laughter. What more can I say but "Let them eat cake," indeed?

Peter Fenton's pen wields a whimsical wit sharper than Excalibur, carving characters as vivid as a technicolor dreamcoat. His plays, a merry-go-round of mirth and mayhem, showcase a talent for spinning yarns that knit together humor and heart. Fenton's knack for crafting dialogue so lively, one might expect the words to leap off the page and tap dance around the room, makes his work a must-see for any theatre enthusiast with a hunger for hearty laughs.

Let’s face it, knights are funny. And with Peter Fenton in command of this epic tale of love, quests, and topiary, the laughs are plentiful. Pull up a seat at the square table and get ready to have a ball!

Character Information

For an expanded cast, remove doubling as the Producer sees fit. Good Knight and Goodbye is written to be performed by a troupe of 11 actors of any ethnicity (yes, any ethnicity--do not read this note to mean "probably white", any ethnicity means any ethnicity) or gender. Ultimately, the tale of Sir Galahad and Lady Heron is an illustration of two people who don't belong in a small-minded kingdom finding each other in the midst of it all and having the courage to love each other enough to leave together. Don't even feel like you have to bother with accents, either. Inconsistency in accents across the cast could actually be very fun ;)
  • Sir Galahad
Caleb Galahad is a legendary, nonetheless kind, knight so used to attending to duty and having others speak for and about him that he hasn't really ever taken stock of what he wants out of life.

  • Merlin
The kooky, promiscuous court wizard of Slekochovakia. He lives by the mantra of "Life is short. You have to look out for number one because no one else will. Trust no one, step on everyone in your way, and throw them off a cliff even if they win." He is far more competent and dangerous than his goofy presentation suggests.
