Nina and Vera are very fresh ways of imagining female characters. This couldn't be more relevant because of everything we living through. It is also beautifully and lyrically written.

Really good - Seeing the conflict from the Russian pov is a rare experience... Add to that the female perspective... And like all the best war stories you have no idea who will survive and who will die.

I have been obsessed with the Night Witches ever since I stumbled upon one of their planes in a museum and a small little placard describing their heroism in WWII. I'm thrilled that their story is being told and told so well. There is a poetry and rhythm to this piece that is absolutely captivating. High schools and colleges? This show features age appropriate, powerful roles for an all-female ensemble of eleven women. Let this show take flight on your stage!

I feel like this is a play that when the plot is read many would doubt the possibility of it being staged. Those people obviously aren’t familiar with Rachel Bublitz and her plays. She really knocks this one out of the park. It’s a war play that has the perfect blend of character development moments and action sequences. The decision to have the cast be airplanes through the configuration of bodies and the sound they make is brilliant. This is a true ensemble piece I can’t wait to see staged.

An unusual subject is covered in a clever and convincing manner. Choosing to talk about Russian women pilots is not something the average playwright could handle. But that's not Bublitz. She tackles the subject with a knowledge of Russian women, who value physical strength, and a knowledge of flying something like a glider. Into enemy territory, no less. The adventure was palpable and the camaraderie enough to impress the marines. The poetic touch works as much as everything else. Would love to see this anywhere.

The characters in "The Night Witches" jump right off the page. The writing is clear and strong, the story intense and engaging, the dialogue both realistic and poetic. As it's an ensemble piece for 9 women, I would (and recently did!) especially recommend it to any high school or college theater director who finds themselves with a group of strong young women ready to take on an exciting new script. "Tonight you will fly" might just be my new affirmation.

I had the chance to see the premiere of THE NIGHT WITCHES and was not disappointed. The story is intense and important, the setting unique, the characters rich. It's very much an ensemble piece—roles for 9 women!—and that's one of its greatest strengths. I love that there is no singular protagonist; what the Night Witches accomplished is an incredible example of teamwork, both on and off stage. Women's stories, theatricality, and a hauntingly beautiful song to tie it all together. Great stuff.

This is a marvelously well-written dramatic piece that shows how the Night Witches - the female airplane pilots who fought for Russia - flew missions to bomb Germany during WWII. It is intense and wonderfully paced. Beautiful ensemble work - it would be great to see staged!
