Jane and her twin 17-year-old sons, Cody and Brendan, own a flower shop in Brooklyn; Brendan has cerebral palsy and lives in a wheelchair, Jane has cancer and her cheating husband left a couple years ago, and Cody, man of the house, takes care of everybody--an arrangement they are exceedingly comfortable in. But seasons, flowers, everything changes. When Jane's high school flame Kevin, a recent FaceBook connection, arrives out of nowhere, he plays catalyst for each in the family to question his or her role with what has drifted from comfort to dysfunction. Kevin introduces wheelchair basketball to Brendan, who for the first time imagines life beyond his limitations, Jane and Cody, in the wake of Brendan's bravery, are forced to confront their own fear: is it Brendan changing or their staying the same? When the "sick" one becomes well, how does this morph the role of caregiver as a new world brimming with possibilities opens up?
