Under the shadow of an administration slowly unraveling LGBTQ rights, Manika, an Indian-American palliative care pediatrician and former Spelling Bee contestant, is having a baby with her partner Jeanette via an unconventional sperm donor. Coming home from a baby shower, the women are surprised by Manika's old friend Adam, recently released from his musical theater cruise gig (for undisclosed reasons) dumped by his boyfriend, and in need of a place to stay. Reluctantly, Jeanette agrees. Ties of friendship are strained as Manika starts to think more in terms of the world into which she is bringing her potential child.
